There's something about Halloween in Scotland. The nights draw in, the wind starts howling, the leaves go flying, and suddenly every strange noise outside sounds like something straight out of a ghost story.
And here at Braw Gifts, we've got a few characters who don't need much encouragement to cause a wee bit of mischief!
The Braw Crew Get Spooky! 👻
Our Highland coo has decided he's dressing up for Halloween. Quite what he's going as, nobody knows. He's already got the wild hair, the horns and the dramatic personality. Frankly, he looks Halloween-ready all year round!
The sheep, meanwhile, is convinced there's a ghost in the garden.
It's probably just a white bedsheet blowing about.
But try telling her that.
And then there's our cheeky seagull.
He's not remotely frightened of ghosts, witches or things that go bump in the night. He's far too busy working out which unsuspecting trick-or-treater has the biggest bag of sweeties.
We wouldn't trust him near a Halloween pumpkin either.
A Little Scottish Halloween Magic ✨
Did you know that Halloween has deep roots in Scotland?
Long before fancy costumes and plastic pumpkins, people celebrated Samhain, marking the changing seasons and the arrival of winter.
Scottish Halloween traditions include guising, dooking for apples, carving tumshie lanterns from turnips, and telling spooky stories.
And let's be fair, there's something wonderfully atmospheric about a dark Scottish night, an old castle, a misty hillside and the possibility of something mysterious lurking around the corner.
Especially here on the beautiful Isle of Bute, where inspiration and imagination are never very far away.
